Damascus, Jan. 24 (SANA)Syrian Civil Defense teams, under the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, carried out more than 100 field responses on Friday across several provinces affected by a polar air mass accompanied by heavy snowfall.
In a statement released on its Telegram channel, the civil defense said that ‘’The operations were aimed at ensuring civilian safety, keeping roads passable, and protecting public and private property amid severe winter conditions.”

The response activities included reopening main and secondary roads closed by snow accumulation and ice formation, handling traffic accidents, spreading salt on roads to prevent skidding and towing stranded vehicles.
The Civil Defense said the interventions were concentrated in the provinces of Aleppo, Idleb, Lattakia, Tartous and Hama.
Details of the operations showed that teams reopened 45 main roads that had been blocked by snow or ice in Aleppo, Idleb, Hama and Lattakia, while work continues to reopen an additional 22 roads still closed.

The teams also towed 40 vehicles that had skidded due to icy conditions and carried out 10 salt-spreading operations on roads, in addition to clearing routes blocked by fallen trees and rocks.
Syrian Civil Defense teams are continuing to operate around the clock to mitigate the effects of the prevailing weather conditions and to ensure the safety of citizens.
