Aleppo, Jan. 11 (SANA) The Aleppo Governorate held a meeting on Sunday with a delegation from United Nations agencies to discuss the humanitarian situation in the neighborhoods of al-Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud in Aleppo. The meeting was attended by Aleppo Deputy Governor Ali Hannoura, along with representatives of the relevant government bodies.
During the meeting, the Deputy Governor outlined the measures taken by the governorate to protect civilians during the recent events. These measures included opening humanitarian corridors, preparing temporary shelter centers, and initiating the removal of war remnants and the reopening of roads in the liberated neighborhoods, in preparation for the safe return of residents.
For his part, Mahmoud Shahhadi, Director of the International Cooperation Directorate in Aleppo, gave a briefing on the humanitarian and service conditions in the two neighborhoods. He noted that current efforts are focused on restoring basic services and implementing infrastructure projects to support the safe and dignified return of residents.
Members of the UN delegation praised the level of coordination and facilitation provided by the government authorities, expressing their readiness to continue supporting humanitarian response and early recovery efforts, and to strengthen cooperation with Aleppo Governorate.
Earlier on Sunday, Aleppo City Council began implementing a service plan in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood aimed at creating suitable conditions for the return of residents following the removal of SDF organization from the area. Meanwhile, al-Ashrafieh neighborhood has been gradually regaining normal life, with improving security conditions, the return of residents to their homes, and the resumption of activity in the streets.
