President al‑Sharaa chairs meeting on education and curriculum updates

President Ahmad al-Sharaa chaired a meeting of the Higher Council for Education to discuss the latest developments in the education sector in Syria at all levels, particularly those related to curriculum development.

The meeting, held at the General Secretariat of the Presidency in Damascus, addressed the importance of updating curricula according to clear strategic plans and scientific visions that keep pace with modern knowledge developments.

The attendees also discussed the rehabilitation and restoration of damaged schools and improving teachers’ conditions, which will positively impact the teaching process.

On August 25th, President Ahmad al-Sharaa issued Decree No. 148 of 2025, establishing the Higher Council for Education.One of its objectives is to adopt modern and advanced educational curricula that keep pace with scientific and technological developments.

The Council is responsible for studying, reviewing, and developing curricula and educational content in accordance with national values, cultural identity, and scientific advancements.
