Syrian anti-narcotics units have foiled an attempt to smuggle Captagon pills into a neighboring country, arresting a suspect, the Interior Ministry said Tuesday.
According to the Ministry, the smuggler used high-tech balloons and advanced electronic devices to transport the drugs across the border from the Syrian Badia. The Ministry did not specify the destination country. All equipment involved in the operation was seized.
The suspect, identified as M.N., has been referred to judicial authorities for legal proceedings. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to pursuing drug traffickers by all available means.
The operation comes just days after anti-narcotics units seized large quantities of Captagon pills smuggled from Lebanese territory.
