Damascus – SANA – The Ministry of Interior announced Friday that the Criminal Investigation Branch in Damascus Countryside has arrested the perpetrator behind the murder of Dr. Bassel Zaino, who was fatally shot earlier this month in front of his clinic in Aleppo’s al-Jamiliya neighborhood.
Ministry spokesperson Nour al-Din Baba said via his official Telegram channel that the Internal Security Command in Aleppo immediately launched an investigation following the incident, which led to the doctor’s death.
“After intensive investigations and information gathering, it was revealed that the perpetrator, identified as (N.K.), is a relative of the victim, and that the motive behind the crime was a family dispute over inheritance,” Baba explained.
The spokesperson added that once the suspect was identified, his location was traced to Damascus Countryside, where he was arrested. He will be transferred to Aleppo Governorate to complete the investigation and be referred to the competent judiciary.
The Internal Security Command in Aleppo reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the case until all legal procedures are completed and justice is served.
