Deir Ezzor, SANA-The Internal security forces in Deir Ezzor province thwarted a terrorist attack attempted by two remnants of the ISIS organization on a security checkpoint in Mayadin city.
Colonel Dhirar al-Shamlan, commander of internal security in the province, told a SANA reporter that one of the terrorists attempted to detonate an explosive belt targeting the checkpoint, while the second, an armed suicide bomber, rushed to attack the checkpoint personnel.
Al-Shamlan added that the forces managed to neutralize the suicide bomber before he could detonate, engaged the second attacker, and subdued him, resulting in the neutralization of both terrorists.
Colonel al-Shamlan said that one of the internal security members was martyred while confronting the terrorist attack, fulfilling his duty in defending his people and homeland
The Commander affirmed that the blood of the martyrs will not be in vain, and that internal security forces remain steadfast in pursuing the remnants of terrorism wherever they may be, vowing not to allow any terrorist factions to threaten the safety and stability of the residents of Deir Ezzor.
