Militias affiliated with al-Hijri prevent medical and food aid from reaching Sweida

Militias affiliated with al-Hijri prevent medical and food aid from reaching Sweida

Damascus, SANA – Hikmat al-Hijri and his affiliated outlawed armed militias refused to allow a humanitarian aid convoy escorted by a government delegation of three ministers and a governor to access Sweida governorate.

The convoy contains medical aid, relief supplies, baby formula, 20 fully equipped ambulances with specialized and highly prepared medical teams, and large quantities of medicines and ambulatory supplies.

In a statement to SANA, Ahmad al-Abdullah, director of the Ministry of Health’s press office, said that “only the Syrian Arab Red Crescent to enter. the delegation made up of the ministries of health, social affairs, labor, emergencies and disaster management returned to Damascus with the aid convoy.”

Last Wednesday, the same militias prevented a previous governmental aid convoy from accessing Sweida.
