Washington, SANA-Republican US Congressman Joe Wilson called Monday for lifting US export controls on Syria.
“I encourage the U.S. Department of Commerce and its Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) to move quickly to implement President Trump’s Executive Order and finally completely lift the export controls on Syria.” Wilson said on (x) platform:
“President Trump’s vision is clear and should not be further delayed” Wilson added
In 2005, the US Congress passed a law that imposed restrictions on the export of US goods to Syria, with the exception of food and medicine.
In May of the current year, US President Donald Trump announced the lifting of sanctions on Syria, a move aimed at giving it “a chance to prosperity after years of war and international isolation.”
