Syrian-Spanish discussions on enhancing scientific cooperation

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Marwan al-Halabi discussed on Sunday with the Special Envoy of the Kingdom of Spain, Antonio González-Zavala, prospects of joint cooperation in the scientific field, the exchange of academic experiences between universities and educational institutions in the two countries, and scholarships.

The talks dealt with reactivating and expanding previously established partnerships between the two parties, enhancing academic and scientific ties, forming a committee to oversee the implementation of the signed memorandums of understanding, and identifying requirements in the field of higher education and scientific research.

Syrian-Spanish discussions on enhancing scientific cooperation

Minister Al-Halabi noted the long-standing and renewed relations between the two sides, as well as the similar history between the two countries. He expressed the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate in the next stage in areas where Spain excels, with regard to research, exchange of experiences, conferences, and issues related to raising the classification of Syrian universities.

In turn, González-Zavala indicated his country’s interest in opening channels of communication and scientific cooperation with Syria, activating agreements between the two sides, and exchanging visits and delegations. He stressed readiness for cooperation in all fields, and continuing communication and coordination for the sake of joint cooperation.
