Syria, France agree on economic cooperation

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar and French Chargé d’Affaires Jean-Baptiste Faivre agreed Wednesday to enhance economic cooperation, vocational training, and support for small enterprises.

The meeting focused on prospects for economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries and the importance of lifting European sanctions, this has paved the way for a new phase of openness and joint cooperation.

The two sides discussed the importance of vocational training and training for Syrian youth, They also discussed the role that France will play in the coming period as a key partner in this field, particularly in developing specific programs tailored to Syria, based on market needs and supporting national skills.

They also agreed to establish incubators for microenterprises, as the most effective means of revitalizing the local economy, supporting individual initiatives, and expanding the production base.

Dr. al-Shaar affirmed that these incubators represent the first link in empowering the real economy and are a cornerstone for building a solid and comprehensive economic foundation.

For his part, the French Chargé d’Affaires reiterated his country’s readiness to provide the necessary technical support and encourage French companies and institutions to engage in investment and development projects within Syria, serving common interests.
