Damascus, SANA- Minister of Water Resources, Eng. Osama Abu Zeid, discussed with the Deputy Director of Humanitarian Aid and Stabilization Support at the French Foreign Ministry, Elisa Amo, and the accompanying delegation, the mechanism for supporting water stability in Syria.

He stressed that the ministry is working to overcome these challenges, and that the priority is to provide infrastructure for the return of displaced persons to their homes. The ministry also seeks to increase the hours of electricity supply through lines exempt from rationing to improve the operation of stations in cities.

Minister Abu Zeid noted that the ministry is working with the relevant authorities and civil defense to remove mines left behind by the former regime’s war on the front lines, along wells and at water supply stations.

For her part, the Deputy Director of Humanitarian Aid at the French Foreign Ministry expressed her aspiration to remove the remaining sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.

She stated that “France has supported the stability of northern and western Syria since 2012 with agricultural, health, and economic projects, the restoration of water pumps and treatment plants, and the support of irrigation canals,” in cooperation with the international community.

She noted continued support and cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources to identify the necessary needs to support water stability in Syria.
