Tunis, Dec. 16 (SANA) Syria has taken part in the General Assembly of the Arab States Broadcasting Union for the first time in 15 years, signaling a renewed effort to reengage with joint Arab media initiatives.
General Director of the Radio and Television Authority, Alaa Barsilo, said Syria’s return reflects its status as a founding member of the union and its intention to contribute to the development of Arab media.
Barsilo said Syria’s absence was linked to years of war launched by the defunct regime. “the country is now seeking to rebuild a national media sector while strengthening cooperation with Arab broadcasters through meetings, training programs and professional exchanges” he added.
The 45th session of the assembly was held in Tunis with representatives from Arab broadcasters, information ministries and regional and international media organizations. Discussions focused on enhancing media cooperation and adapting to technological and professional changes in the sector.
