Ministry of Sport and Youth renames Homs stadium in Honor of Martyr Abdul Baset al-Sarout

Damascus, SANA-Minister of Sports and Youth, Mr. Mohammad Samih Hamoud, has issued a decision to name the football stadium in the city of Homs after the martyr Abdul Baset al-Sarout, goalkeeper of Syria’s youth national team and al-Karama Sports Club.

The decision, announced on the Ministry’s official Facebook page, comes as a tribute to the spirit of al-Sarout, a native of Homs, who embodied the values of heroism and sacrifice throughout his athletic and national journey, leaving a lasting impact on the hearts of the Syrian people.

The new name will be adopted in all official correspondence, signage, and sports and media events held at the stadium.

The decision also tasked the Directorate of Sports and Youth in Homs Governorate, in coordination with the city council and relevant authorities, with installing the new signage and organizing an official ceremony in the presence of the martyr’s family, in honor of his national and athletic legacy.
