Paris, Aug 16 (SANA) Ukrainian swimmer Nikita Sheremet won the men’s 50-metre freestyle title at the 2026 European Aquatics Championships in Paris, setting a national record.
The 19-year-old claimed gold in 21.13 seconds, ahead of neutral athlete Yegor Kornev and Serbia’s Andrey Barna, who both recorded 21.37.
It was Sheremet’s first gold medal at the European Long-Course Championships. He previously took silver in the 50-metre freestyle at the 2025 European Short-Course Championships.
