Amman, July.11 (SANA) Syria’s Under-18 basketball team closed out the West Asia Championship with an emphatic 91-57 victory over Iraq on Saturday, earning qualification for next year’s FIBA U18 Asia Cup.
Syria dominated from the opening stages, taking a 55-20 lead into halftime before comfortably completing a 34-point win.
The Syrians defeated Jordan and Palestine in their opening two games before suffering defeats against Iran and Lebanon.
Despite those losses, the overall results secured Syria a berth in the 2026 FIBA U18 Asia Cup Finals, to be held in Ahmedabad, India, between August 13 and 23.
