Washington, July 10 (SANA) France became the first team to secure a place in the semi-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Morocco 2-0 in their quarter-final clash at Gillette Stadium in Boston on Thursday.
After a goalless first half, in which Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou saved a penalty from Kylian Mbappé, France broke the deadlock in the 59th minute through Mbappé. Ousmane Dembélé doubled the lead six minutes later to seal the victory.
The result sends France into the World Cup semi-finals for the third consecutive tournament.
France will face the winner of Friday’s quarter-final between Spain and Belgium for a place in the final.
