Damascus, June 2 (SANA) Al-Wahda Club has officially announced the signing of Bosnian center Elmedin Kikanović to its men’s first basketball team in a deal intended to strengthen its campaign in the Syrian Basketball League.
The 37-year-old, 2.11-metre center brings extensive international experience across European and Arab competitions, having played for clubs in Germany, France, Russia, Lebanon and Qatar, as well as for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Al-Wahda said the move is designed to reinforce its presence under the basket and benefit from Kikanović’s height, rebounding ability and scoring experience as the team enters a decisive phase of the season.
Kikanović’s career includes spells with Sloboda Tuzla, Crvena zvezda, Enisey Krasnoyarsk, SLUC Nancy, ALBA Berlin, AS Monaco, Ormanspor, Kuwait SC, Al Riyadi Club Beirut and Al Arabi SC.
He most recently played for Al Arabi SC in Qatar before joining Al-Wahda.
The club added that the signing is part of efforts to address tactical gaps and improve competitiveness in key matches during the ongoing season.
