Washington, July 5 (SANA) France advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the Round of 16 on Saturday at Philadelphia Stadium in the United States.
Kylian Mbappé scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot in the 69th minute after France dominated possession and created the better scoring opportunities throughout the contest.
The goal was Mbappé’s seventh of the tournament, drawing him level with Argentina’s Lionel Messi at the top of the World Cup scoring charts.
France will face Morocco in the quarterfinals after the North African side defeated Canada 3-0 to book their place in the last eight.
