Breel Embolo opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Dan Ndoye doubled Switzerland‘s lead just after halftime, capitalizing on a defensive error in the 46th minute.
 
Switzerland controlled the remainder of the match despite Algeria‘s attempts to fight back, with six minutes of stoppage time added before the final whistle confirmed the European side’s progression to the last 16.
