DR Congo took the lead in the seventh minute through Brian Sibenja after a counterattack and held the advantage into the second half, with goalkeeper Lionel Mbasi producing a series of saves to frustrate England.
Harry Kane equalized with a header in the 75th minute before scoring the winner 11 minutes later with a powerful finish into the top corner, completing England’s comeback.
England will face Mexico in the Round of 16 after the Mexicans defeated Ecuador 2-0 to book their place in the knockout stage.
