Seattle, July 2 (SANA) Belgium came from two goals down to defeat Senegal 3-2 after extra time on Wednesday, securing a place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Senegal took the lead through Habib Diarra in the 24th minute before Ismaïla Sarr doubled the advantage in the 51st. Belgium mounted a late comeback, with Romelu Lukaku scoring in the 85th minute and Youri Tielemans equalizing three minutes later to send the match into extra time.

Tielemans converted a penalty in the final minute of the second period of extra time to complete Belgium’s comeback and seal victory.

Belgium will face the winner of the Round of 32 match between the United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last 16, while Senegal was eliminated from the tournament.
