Washington, June 29 (SANA) Canada reached the FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 16 for the first time in its history after Stephen Eustáquio scored a stoppage-time winner in a 1-0 victory over South Africa on Sunday.
Eustáquio struck in the second minute of added time to decide the opening Round of 32 match at Los Angeles Stadium, sending one of the tournament’s host nations into the knockout stage.
Canada will face the winner of Tuesday’s Round of 32 match between the Netherlands and Morocco for a place in the quarterfinals.
