Mexico City, June 24 (SANA) Colombia secured a place in the Round of 32 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 1-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in their Group K match on Tuesday.
Daniel Muñoz scored the decisive goal in the 76th minute, breaking the deadlock after Colombia dominated much of the contest but struggled to find a way past a disciplined Congolese defense.
The breakthrough came when Juan Quintero delivered a precise through ball that found Muñoz inside the penalty area, where he fired home to seal Colombia’s second consecutive victory of the tournament.
The result moved Colombia to six points at the top of Group K, guaranteeing qualification for the knockout stage with one group match remaining.
Portugal sits second on four points, while DR Congo is third with one point. Uzbekistan remains bottom of the group without a point after two matches.
Colombia’s qualification makes it the latest team to secure a place in the Round of 32 as the group stage of the expanded 2026 World Cup continues across North America.
