Riyadh, March 18 (SANA) – Syria’s Foreign Ministry has directed its embassy in Saudi Arabia to intensify assistance for Syrians stranded across Gulf countries due to current regional conditions.
Chargé d’Affaires at the Syrian Embassy in Riyadh Mohsen Al-Mahbash said the directive from Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani aims to facilitate the entry of stranded Syrians from neighboring countries into Saudi Arabia, in preparation for their return to Syria or onward travel to their countries of residence.
Al-Mahbash noted that, in coordination with the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the embassy has issued around 1,600 exceptional transit visas so far, and continues to process applications daily, including during official holidays, to accelerate procedures for Syrian nationals.
The embassy is also handling requests through dedicated communication channels and coordination with Syrian missions in Gulf states, as part of broader efforts to ensure timely support for affected nationals.
