Dubai, Jan 27 (SANA) Syria’s al-Wahda continued its strong start at the Dubai International Basketball Tournament, edging Libya’s al-Ittihad 96–91 on Monday to claim its second win of the competition.
Al-Wahda trailed 45–41 at halftime but rallied in the second half, leaning on efficient shooting and late-game execution to secure the five-point victory. The Damascus-based club had opened the tournament with an 87–75 win over the UAE’s al-Nasr before suffering a 77–65 loss to fellow Syrian side Homs al-Fida.
In contrast, Syria’s al-Karama endured a difficult outing, falling 99–68 to Libya’s al-Ahli in the third round of play. al-Ahli took control early and held a commanding 53–32 lead at the break, never allowing al-Karama back into contention.
Al-Karama’s only win so far came in a narrow 92–90 victory over Zamboanga of the Philippines, while it previously suffered a heavy 96–63 defeat to Beirut of Lebanon.
