Damascus, Sep. 8 (SANA) Syria has strongly condemned attacks by the Houthi militia targeting civilian and economic facilities in the Saudi cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, which injured dozens of civilians, including women and children.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed Syria’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and affirmed its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
Syria reiterated its categorical rejection of any attacks targeting civilians and called for an immediate halt to such actions, warning that they threaten the security and stability of the region.
Earlier Tuesday, Brig. Gen. Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, said the Houthi militia had targeted civilian and economic facilities in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. The attacks injured 73 civilians, including women and children, which he described as a dangerous and irresponsible escalation.
Several countries have also condemned Houthi attacks and threats to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, describing them as aggressive conduct and a clear violation of international law, as well as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability.
