Brussels, July 8 (SANA) European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas condemned the Iranian attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait on Wednesday, describing them as “unacceptable” and warning that escalating tensions between the United States and Iran risk undermining efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East.
In a post on X, Kallas said the latest escalation threatens regional security and weakens international efforts to maintain stability. She said EU foreign ministers will meet their Gulf counterparts next Monday to discuss support for existing agreements and ways to safeguard freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea.
Her comments came amid heightened regional tensions following renewed exchanges of strikes between Washington and Tehran, raising international concerns over the potential impact on regional security and maritime trade.
Earlier on Wednesday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, aimed at ending the conflict in the Middle East, had expired.
