Riyadh/Cairo, June 6 (SANA) The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Egypt on Saturday condemned the ongoing Iranian attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain, calling them a dangerous and irresponsible escalation that threatens regional security.
Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, said in a statement that Iran‘s continued targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities constitutes an attempt to destabilize the region and undermine peace efforts.
AlBudaiwi stressed that the security of Kuwait and Bahrain is an integral part of the GCC’s collective security, affirming that member states stand in solidarity with both countries and support all measures they take to protect their sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Separately, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning the attacks as a “flagrant violation” of the two countries’ sovereignty and a serious escalation threatening the stability of the entire region.
Egypt expressed its full support for Kuwait and Bahrain and for the measures they take to safeguard their security, stability and vital installations.
Kuwait and Bahrain reported Iranian missile and drone attacks on Saturday morning targeting their territories.
In a similar attack on Wednesday, Iran struck Kuwait International Airport, killing one person, wounding 63 others and causing damage to the country’s main airport, according to Kuwaiti authorities.
