Qatar and Türkiye back diplomatic push to ease U.S.-Iran tensions
Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Fidan discuss ways to support Pakistan’s mediation efforts between the United States and Iran

Doha, May 23 (SANA) Qatar and Türkiye have reaffirmed their support for ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran, following talks between the two countries’ top diplomats.

During a phone call on Friday, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reviewed developments surrounding Pakistan’s mediation initiative and discussed broader regional efforts to keep dialogue channels open.

According to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the two ministers also explored ways to coordinate support for de-escalation initiatives designed to promote regional stability and encourage diplomatic engagement.

The Qatari foreign minister stressed the need for all parties to respond positively to mediation efforts, saying a negotiated solution offered the best path toward addressing the roots of the crisis and securing a lasting agreement.

The discussion comes amid renewed diplomatic activity surrounding Pakistan’s role as a mediator, with several regional actors backing initiatives intended to prevent a return to military confrontation and create space for broader political dialogue.
