Damascus, Apr. 19 (SANA) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Sunday launched an electronic portal titled “Missing/Detainee Report,” marking a new gateway of hope aimed at ending the suffering of thousands of Syrians.
The initiative targets individuals who, over the past fourteen years of war, were forced to leave Syria through illegal ways, as well as those currently subject to detention procedures or legal cases in host countries.
Director of the Consular Affairs Department at the Ministry, Mohammad al-Omar, told SANA that the service seeks to establish a comprehensive and accurate database on the conditions of Syrians who are detained or missing outside the Syrian Arab Republic territories.
He noted that the Ministry will, through official diplomacy, reassess pending cases and correspond with concerned host countries to explore solutions to these humanitarian issues.
Al-Omar said the Ministry fully acknowledges the magnitude of the hardship families of detainees abroad face, who often lack the means to reach their loved ones.
He added that the platform will serve as an official communication bridge to settle this file, paving the way for every Syrian to return safely to their homeland.
