Lebanese president says preserving civil peace remains top priority
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun

Beirut, April 5 (SANA) Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said Sunday that preserving civil peace in Lebanon remains a top priority, describing it as a “red line” that must not be crossed.

According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, Aoun said, “Amid destruction and displacement, the primary concern remains maintaining civil peace. Anyone attempting to undermine it is effectively serving Israel.”

He said the Lebanese people do not want to be drawn into internal conflict, stressing that negotiation and diplomacy do not mean concession or surrender. Aoun also pointed to ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at halting the violence and destruction.

The remarks came as Israeli airstrikes continued on Saturday in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa region, where two people were killed and others injured, according to local reports.

Aoun had previously described the situation in southern Lebanon as tragic, citing continued strikes on several towns.
