New York, April 16 (SANA) Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ibrahim Olabi, said transitional justice and redress for victims of crimes committed against Syrians form the foundation for building a new Syria.
Speaking at a session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, Olabi said Syrian state institutions are committed to an organized path toward uncovering the truth and holding perpetrators accountable.
According to a statement by the Syrian Mission to the UN, Olabi highlighted the importance of partnering with the international community and its mechanisms to support this trajectory, ensuring there is no impunity for those responsible.
Olabi condemned ongoing Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty and the rights of the Syrian people, stressing that stopping these violations and supporting the path of transitional justice are shared regional and international responsibilities.
Olabi told a UN Security Council session on March 18 that a new Syria is advancing on a comprehensive national path, reflecting the sacrifices of the Syrian people and strengthening stability.
