Washington, March 23 (SANA) – US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Washington would continue strikes on Iran “without hesitation” if ongoing negotiations do not progress positively, while indicating that a diplomatic solution remains possible.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said the United States and Iran have agreed on key points, describing recent talks involving envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner as “productive,” and urging patience as discussions continue.
He noted that the US is engaging with a “high-level figure,” though not with Iran’s supreme leadership, adding that both sides have reached understandings on most issues.
Trump said he expects Iran to agree to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions in exchange for ending the conflict, stressing that Tehran “will not be allowed” to possess nuclear weapons.
Earlier, Trump ordered a five-day pause in US strikes on Iranian energy facilities to allow room for continued negotiations between the two sides.
