Qatar, Russia discuss regional developments, stress dialogue to ease tensions
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani

Doha, March 2 (SANA) – Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a phone call on Monday with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss regional developments, with both leaders stressing the importance of dialogue, negotiations and intensified diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen regional security and stability.

According to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), President Putin expressed Russia’s solidarity with Qatar and its readiness to provide support to help mitigate the impact of recent attacks and enhance the country’s security and stability.

For his part, the Qatari Emir thanked Russia for its position, praising the friendly relations and ongoing cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides also reviewed bilateral strategic relations and ways to further develop cooperation across various fields in line with shared interests.

Earlier on Monday, Qatar’s Ministry of Defense reported that two energy facilities were targeted by Iranian drones without causing casualties. Qatar Energy subsequently announced the suspension of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production following the attacks, as regional tensions continue to escalate after US-Israeli strikes on Iran and subsequent Iranian attacks across several Arab states.
