Iranian-Israeli Airstrikes Continue for Ninth Consecutive Day

Capitals, SANA-Exchanges of drone and missile strikes between Iran and Israel continued for the ninth consecutive day, amid international calls for diplomatic solutions.

Meanwhile, the Iranian Fars News Agency reported today that Israel targeted the Isfahan nuclear site, adding that no dangerous materials had leaked as a result.

Iranian media also reported that 15 officers and soldiers from the Iranian Air Defense Forces have been killed since the start of the confrontation with Israel.

The Iranian Ministry of Health announced that 430 people have been killed and more than 3,500 injured since the start of the Israeli attack on Iran. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the deaths of five of its members in an Israeli attack on the city of Khorramabad in Lorestan Province.

An Iranian official announced the arrest of 22 people in the city of Qom on charges of spying for Israel.

The Israeli military announced that it had intercepted several Iranian drones in different areas, while the Air Force said it had launched a series of strikes against missile storage and launched infrastructure in central Iran.

In a related development, Israel announced that commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, Saeed Izadi, was killed in a strike on his apartment in the city of Qom, south of Tehran. It also announced the deaths of Iranian commander Bahnam Shahriari and commander of the IRGC’s second drone unit, Amin Porjodkhi.

Politically, the UN Security Council held an emergency session yesterday, entitled “Threats to International Peace and Security,” due to the Israeli-Iranian escalation. During the session, the UN Secretary-General and a number of delegates from member states called for a return to negotiations and giving peace a chance.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said that Iran has a “maximum” two weeks to avoid potential US strikes, indicating that he may make a decision before that deadline.

The foreign ministers of France, Britain, and Germany, along with the European Union’s foreign policy chief, also announced their readiness to hold further talks with Iran after discussions aimed at resuming diplomatic efforts on its nuclear program. This came after three hours of talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
