Amman, Feb.05 (SANA) King Abdullah II of Jordan on Wednesday underscored the importance of stability in Syria, saying it serves Jordan’s national interests and that coordination between the two countries remains in place to expand cooperation and exchange expertise.
Petra quoted the King as saying during a meeting, held in Amman, with political and media figures that “Jordan’s interest lies in the stability of Syria,” adding that coordination continues between institutions in both countries “to expand cooperation and exchange experiences in all fields.”.
Turning to Gaza, the King stressed the need to ensure the full implementation of the agreement to end the war in all its stages and to halt Israeli escalation in the West Bank.
On developments related to Iran, King Abdullah said Jordan hopes tensions will be reduced through peaceful means, noting that the Kingdom supports diplomacy and dialogue.
Separately, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, affirmed during a meeting on Tuesday with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, the need to continue supporting Syria, its stability and the reconstruction process. Safadi said that such support contributes to creating the necessary conditions for the return of refugees.
