Madrid, Jan. 31 (SANA) Spain welcomed on Friday the agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), describing it as a significant step toward enhancing prospects for stability in the country.
“The agreement paves the way for a definitive end to hostilities and improves access to humanitarian aid for affected populations,” Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement published on its official website.
The ministry emphasized that the Spanish government reaffirms the importance of preserving Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, describing both as fundamental principles for the country’s reconstruction and for achieving regional stability. It added that Madrid will continue to support international efforts aimed at securing peace and stability in Syria and across the broader region.
The Syrian government announced on Friday that it had reached a comprehensive agreement with the SDF to implement a ceasefire. The deal includes a phased integration of military and administrative structures between the two sides, the deployment of security forces into the centers of Hasaka and Qamishli north eastern side, and the transfer of all civil and governmental institutions, crossings and border points to state authority.
