Washington, Dec. 1 (SANA)
U.S. Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack strongly condemned Saturday’s terrorist attack on Syrian and U.S. forces near Palmyra while they were conducting a joint patrol.
In a post on X, Barrack said: “I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist ambush that targeted a joint patrol between U.S. and Syrian government forces in central Syria.” He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of three U.S. service members and civilian personnel and wished a speedy recovery to the Syrian soldiers wounded in the attack.
Barrack reaffirmed his country’s firm commitment to defeating terrorism alongside its partners in Syria.
Earlier on Saturday, an armed assailant opened fire on Syrian and U.S. forces near Palmyra during a joint patrol, killing two U.S. soldiers and a civilian translator and injuring two Syrian soldiers.
