Trump: ISIS attack targeted both Syria and the U.S., retaliation will be severe

Washington, Dec. 13, (SANA) U.S. President Donald Trump said that the assault that targeted Syrian security forces and U.S. troops near the city of Palmyra earlier today was a terrorist attack perpetrated by the ISIS organization against both the United States and Syria, stressing that the response would be severe.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said: “We mourn the loss of three great American patriots in Syria — two soldiers and one civilian interpreter — and we pray for the three wounded soldiers who have just been confirmed to be in good condition.”

He added: “This was a terrorist attack by ISIS against the United States and Syria, in a highly dangerous area of Syria that is not fully under control. the Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa is extremely angry and disturbed by this attack, and there will be a very strong response. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
