In remarks delivered after the prayer, President al-Sharaa told worshippers that the government intended to push ahead with post-conflict reconstruction, saying Syrians would face future challenges “together” and vowing to restore state institutions across the country.

President al-Sharaa recalled his first foreign trip after the takeover, a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he performed umrah and received a fragment of the Kaaba’s covering as a gift from Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman saying the cloth piece was installed in the Umayyad Mosque to symbolize ties between Saudi Arabia and Syria.

The president praised the sacrifices and heroism of the fighters who entered Damascus victorious, stressing that safeguarding this victory and building upon it is today the greatest responsibility placed on all Syrians. President al- Sharaa added that protecting the gains made since then remains a central responsibility for the government and population alike.

President al-Sharaa pledged that reconstruction efforts would extend “from north to south and east to west,” adding that the new administration aims to build institutions that ensure justice and support vulnerable communities. He concluded by calling for national unity and stability.
