Aqaba, Dec 07 (SANA) King Abdullah II of Jordan and German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz met in Aqaba, southern Jordan, to discuss ways to support Syria and Lebanon in maintaining their security, stability, and sovereignty.
According to the official Jordanian news agency Petra, both leaders stressed the importance of respecting the sovereignty of regional countries and reviewed key developments in the Middle East.
Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi had previously affirmed that Jordan continues to support Syria after years of war and destruction, expressing hope for a stable and secure future that ensures Syria’s territorial unity.
On the Palestinian issue, King Abdullah II underscored the need to fully implement the agreement to end the war on Gaza, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip’s residents, and warned of the dangers of continued Israeli escalation in the West Bank and attacks on Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
Both King Abdullah II and Chancellor Merz highlighted the necessity of pursuing a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region, based on a two-state solution.
