EU official: Dialogue Day offers Syrians a chance to shape their country’s future

Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs at the European External Action Service, Olof Skoog, said the “Dialogue Day with Syrian Civil Society” held on Saturday provides Syrians with a rare opportunity to voice their views on the future of their country. He noted that hosting the event in Syria for the first time underscores the EU’s ongoing support for efforts to advance justice and social cohesion.

Speaking at the gathering, organized jointly by the Syrian government and the EU and attended by local and international representatives, Skoog said that “after years of fear, Syria now has a chance to rebuild in a way that reflects the will of its people.”

“Dialogue Day” is usually held as part of the EU’s annual Brussels Conference on Syria. The event offers a platform for engagement with civil society organizations and NGOs working inside Syria and across the region, aiming to exchange perspectives, share expertise, and help forming policies guiding international assistance.
