President Erdoğan: Turkey Committed to Supporting Syria’s Unity and Establishing Peace

Ankara- SANA

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan affirmed that his country prioritizes establishing lasting peace in Syria and ensuring its national unity at this critical phase.

On his way back from the Qatari capital, Doha, Erdoğan told reporters that “Syria is currently experiencing a complex process involving international diplomacy and local dynamics,” emphasizing that Turkey “cannot leave Syria alone and is keen on maintaining close communication.”

He underscored the importance of integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) with the Syrian government forces, considering this step essential for reinforcing national unity and overcoming divisions left by the previous phase.

Erdogan pointed out that the current Syrian government prioritizes embracing all national components, which has led to a shift in the balance of power within the country, despite the presence of parties “unable to accept this transformation.”

He accused Israel of exerting increasing pressure from the southern region, attempting to drain the country through policies aimed at dismantling its national fabric to destabilize internal stability.

Erdoğan referred to his meeting with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Doha, where they discussed several issues, foremost among them the situation in northeastern Syria, stressing the importance of joint coordination on these matters.
