Tokyo, SANA – The Chargé d’Affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Syria, Tsuji Akihiro, affirmed his country’s permanent support for the Syrian people and its backing for humanitarian and development initiatives.
The Japanese Embassy in Damascus clarified via its Twitter account that Akihiro signed a contract on Tuesday with the Moallem Volunteer Team to rehabilitate the Al-Bahhariya School in the Damascus countryside.
This contract falls within the framework of the “Grassroots Human Security Projects” program, which Japan is implementing in several Syrian regions.
According to the embassy, the project contributes to improving Syrian children’s access to education by providing a suitable and safe school environment.
Last month, the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a $5.5 million contribution to support the UN-Habitat program, which aims to improve living conditions in Syria and enhance stability.
