Japan Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement in Sweida, Calls for Its Implementation

Japan Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement in Sweida, Calls for Its Implementation

Tokyo, SANA-Japan welcomed the ceasefire agreement reached in Sweida province and called for the swift implementation of its provisions between the relevant parties.

“Japan is deeply concerned about the deteriorating situation in Syria following the outbreak of violence in the southern region and fighting, including Israeli strikes,” Japanese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Kitamura Toshihiro said in a statement published on the ministry’s official website ton Saturday.

Toshihiro expressed Japan’s appreciation for the efforts of the US and other concerned countries to reach a solution to the events in Sweida, noting that “his country strongly urges all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint, preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and national unity, and respect its independence and sovereignty.”

“Japan appreciates the Syrian government’s participation in the dialogue aimed at achieving a comprehensive political solution and national reconciliation, and calls on all concerned parties to continue to play constructive roles in achieving a peaceful and stable transition in Syria,” He added.
