Washington, May 3 (SANA) Skywatchers can expect a rare lunar event in May 2026, when two full moons will appear within the same month, a phenomenon that occurs only occasionally.
The first full moon, known as the “Flower Moon,” will rise early in the month, while a second full moon, commonly called a “Blue Moon”, is set to appear at the end of May, according to CNN.
Such events are uncommon in the lunar cycle. Astronomy website EarthSky notes that two full moons in a single calendar month occur roughly seven times every 19 years.
The phenomenon is expected to draw attention from astronomers and enthusiasts worldwide.
