Capitals, Sept. 2 (SANA) Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan said their air defense systems intercepted Iranian missiles and drones targeting their territories.
The Bahraini National Communication Centre announced early Wednesday that Iranian drones targeting the Kingdom had been intercepted and destroyed.
The Bahrain News Agency quoted the center as saying that the air defense systems of the Bahrain Defence Force intercepted and destroyed Iranian drones targeting the Kingdom, while the systems continue to maintain a high level of readiness to protect the country’s security and safety.
The Bahraini Interior Ministry had earlier called on citizens and residents, in a post on X, to remain calm, proceed to the nearest safe location and follow news through official channels for their safety.
In Kuwait, the Kuwaiti Army announced early Wednesday that its forces had confronted hostile targets inside the country’s airspace.
In a statement posted on X, the army said Kuwaiti air defenses were confronting hostile missile and drone attacks following what it described as the “sinful Iranian aggression.”
It added that the sounds of explosions were caused by air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks, while calling on the public to comply with security and safety instructions issued by the competent authorities.
In Jordan, the Jordanian Armed Forces announced Tuesday evening that its air defense systems had dealt with 13 Iranian ballistic missiles that entered Jordanian airspace, successfully intercepting and destroying 10 of them, while three fell in remote areas far from population centers.
The official spokesperson for the Jordanian Armed Forces said in a statement published on the armed forces’ website that the Kingdom had come under a missile attack originating from Iranian territory in recent hours. He said the attack was dealt with in accordance with approved operational procedures, with no injuries or loss of life reported.
The Jordanian Armed Forces affirmed that its units and formations continue to carry out their duties around the clock and that its surveillance and air defense systems remain on alert to deal with any threat, safeguard the Kingdom’s security, protect its citizens and preserve the sovereignty of its airspace.
Iran continues to launch missile and drone attacks against several Arab and regional countries, resulting in casualties and material damage to infrastructure.
