Manama, July 21 (SANA) Bahrain reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, condemning claims by the Houthi militia accusing the Kingdom of imposing a blockade on Yemen and threatening maritime navigation.

According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the Bahraini Foreign Ministry said the militia’s statements posed a threat to regional security and stability, targeted international shipping and trade, endangered civilians, and violated international law, the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea and relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions.

The ministry stressed that Saudi Arabia‘s security is an integral part of Bahrain’s security and voiced support for measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

It also called for stronger international efforts to protect maritime security in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and other strategic waterways to ensure the security of global energy supplies and international trade.

The ministry reiterated its support for Saudi-led diplomatic, humanitarian and development efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and lasting political settlement to the conflict in Yemen in line with the Gulf Initiative, its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.

The Houthi militia escalated its threats to regional shipping on Monday, announcing what it claimed was a maritime “ban” on Saudi Arabia.
