Fires of Jabal al-Turkman in Lattakia countryside spread to new areas due to increasing wind speed

Lattakia, SANA- The strong winds caused the fires to spread to new areas in the forests of Jabal Turkman in the Lattakia countryside, where firefighting teams continue their efforts to extinguish these fires for the fifth consecutive day.Fires of Jabal al-Turkman in Lattakia countryside spread to new areas due to increasing wind speed

Abdul Kafi Kayal, director of the Syrian Coastal Directorate of the Civil Defense, told a SANA reporter that the fires that have been raging in the Jabal Turkman in the Rabia area at Lattakia countryside for five days have expanded, with the number of blazing flames increasing due to strong winds and a significant rise in temperatures.

Kayal confirmed that firefighting teams from the Civil Defense and other agencies are working at full capacity to control the fire, which has spread to the towns of Al-Rihaniya, Al-Qasab and Al-Sukari. He noted that the area’s terrain and the lack of agricultural roads that would allow vehicles to reach the outbreak are a major obstacle to the firefighting teams’ work.
