Damascus – SANA

Secretary-General of the republic presidency, Maher al-Sharaa, held a meetingwith the ministers of economy and transport, along with the director of land and sea ports authority, to address challenges facing Syria’s land transport sector.

Meeting at the presidency to discuss challenges in Syria’s land transport sector

The discussion focused on overcoming technical and regulatory obstacles affecting over 40,000 trucks, many of which are outdated, emphasizing the need for urgent solutions to improve working conditions for thousands of families relying on this sector.

Key proposals included launching a digital platform to regulate truck movement and ensure fair cargo distribution, streamlining truck entry at border crossings, and enhancing wages and living conditions for drivers.
